Ανάμεσα στα γνωστότερα έργα του περιλαμβάνεται η τριλογία για τον «μακρύ 19ο αι.»: ''[[Η εποχή των επαναστάσεων: Ευρώπη 1789–1848]]'', ''[[Η εποχή του κεφαλαίου: 1848-1875]]'' και ''[[Η εποχή της αυτοκρατορίας: 1875–1914]]''. Επίσης εξέδωσε έναν τόμο στον οποίο εισήγαγε τη σημαντική ιδέα των [[επινοημένες παραδόσεις|επινοημένων παραδόσεων]].
