Η Έλεν Τζοάν "Τζο" Κοξ (γεν. LeadbeaterΛεντμπέτερ; 22 JuneΙουνίου 1974 – 16 JuneΙουνίου 2016) ήταν Αγγλίδα βουλευτής του [[Εργατικό Κόμμα (Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο)|αγγλικού Εργατικού Κόμματος]]. She was selected to contest the Batley and Spen constituency after the previous incumbent, Labour's Mike Wood, decided not to stand in 2015. Having retained the seat for Labour she became a campaigner on issues relating to the Syrian Civil War, and founded the All-Party Parliamentary Group Friends of Syria, of which she became chair. She was described as "a tireless campaigner for Syrian refugees".[4]
OnΣτις 16 JuneΙουνίου 2016, Coxη wasΚοξ shotπυροβολήθηκε andκαι stabbedμαχαιρώθηκε multipleεπανειλημμένα timesστο in BirstallΜπέρσταλ, Westδυτικό YorkshireΓιορκσάιρ, where she had been holding a surgery with her constituents. SheΠέθανε wasαπό leftτα inτραύματά criticalτης conditionπερίπου andμία diedώρα from her injuries approximately an hour laterαργότερα. AΟ 52-year-oldφερόμενος manως wasδράστης arrested in connection withτης theεπίθεσης attackσυνελήφθη.[5]
