Στις 29 Νοεμβρίου 1945, όντας ακόμα στην εξορία, ο βασιλιάς Πέτρος Β΄ καθαιρέθηκε από τη συντακτική συνέλευση και η Ομοσπονδιακή Λαϊκή Δημοκρατία της Γιουγκοσλαβίας αναγνωρίστηκε διεθνώς ως Γιουγκοσλαβία.
