In the a guide of the nomos' site I read: ''Ο Νομός της Εύβοιας, διαιρούμενος σε 27 καποδιστριακά διαμερίσματα, περιλαμβάνει στη διοικητική του εμβέλεια εκτός της ιστορικής μεγαλονήσου, το νησί της Σκύρου και ένα μικρό τμήμα της Στερεάς Ελλάδος, που εκτείνεται '''δυτικά των ορίων του Δήμου της Χαλκίδας''', στην αντίπερα «όχθη» του Ευβοϊκού.''
