School year 2013-2014, Class Γ1
My school is in Iraklia.The school's name is Iraklia's Junior High School. The students of the school come from Dasohori, Valtero, Iraklia,Chrisohorafa,Pontismeno, Limnohori, Gefiroudi and Lithotopo.The school was founded in 1976. There are three grades.First,second and third.Students go to school by bus and on foot.
Our school is a big building. It has got three floors and contains ten classrooms. There are also some laboratories.There is a science laboratory and an Information Technology lab.There are also an Art and a technology workshop.In the first floor,there is a library and an ampitheater.In our library there are about 3500 books on difterent subjects.We can borrow books,from our library and return them back after 20 days.Our schoolyard is very big.On one side, there is a volleyball court,a football field and two basketball courts.There are also some seats,where we like to spend our time during the breaks.On the left side,there is a school canteen.In front of the canteen,there's always a big queue of students.There are beautiful trees and grass all over our schoolyard.
In our school we study19 subjects like maths, ancient greek, biology, history, P.E., R.E., ICT, modern greek, geography, physics, Homer's Odyssey, music, art, technology, home economics, project, english, german. Every grade goes on an excursion once a year. We have many programs. One of the best programs is the music program and the project. There are many extracurricular activities like drama club, cinema club and football club. We also have holidays on christmas, they last 15 days, in easter 15 days and in the summer 100 days. Many celebrations take place at our school. One of the most beautiful celebration is the 28th October, we celebrate the liberation from the german occupation and also the 17th November and the 25th of March.
In our school there are 220 students and 20 teachers.Miss Maravelaki teaches English, Mr Mpoytoyridis teaches Modern Greek, Ancient Greek, Greek Literature and History, Miss Chatzivasiliadou teaches German, Mr Papapanagiotou teaches Biology, Mr Tragoudas teaches Geography, Mr Tsafaridis teaches P.E, Mr Vaphidis teaches Technology, Mr Petrakidis teaches ICT, Miss Zournatzi teaches Ancient Greek Odyssey, Miss Chavale teaches Maths.The teachers are very interesting and good.The students are very satisfied, excited and happy.There aren't any problems like school bulling.
We like this school because it has got many classrooms for the students which are sunny, comfortable and big. The schoolyard is beautiful with all those plants, trees and the grass. There are also all the labs we need to study better and the interesting books of our library on all the subjects make our research easier. I like the school because I meet my friends there too. Sometimes I don't like the school because some of the subjects are boring, teachers give us a lot of homework and there are a lot of subjects too.
