n 2018, Thyssenkrupp announced that the company would split into two companies, thyssenkrupp Industrials and thyssenkrupp Materials. The split was supposed to take effect beginning 1 October 2019; however, in May 2019 it was revealed that Thyssenkrupp cancelled its plans to split the company into two.
