Οι '''Siouxsie and the Banshees''' ήταν [[ροκ]] συγκρότημα- από[[γκοθ]] συγκρότημα που σχηματίστηκε στο Λονδίνο το 1976. Τον Απρίλιο του 1978 κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο του single, με τίτλο "Hong Kong Garden", που έφτασε στα 7η θέση των Βρετανικών charts. Τον Αύγουστο του 1978, το συγκρότημα άρχισε να ηχογραφεί το πρώτο τουςτου άλμπουμ, ''The Scream''. Ο παραγωγός του άλμπουμ ήταν ο Steve Lillywhite ο οποίος, με την εντυπωσιακή του δουλειά, κατάφερε να δημιουργήσει έναν ήχο με πολύ χώρο και ηχώ.
Στα βρετανικά charts, το άλμπουμ''Kaleidoscope'' (1980), έφτασε την 5η θέση. Οι μεγάλες επιτυχίες τους στην Βρετανία ήταν τα singles «Happy House», «Christine», «Spellbound» και «Cities in Dust».
Η δημοτικότητα τους αυξανόταν καθώς περνούσε η δεκαετία και πιο συγκεκριμένα, στις [[Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες]] τα τραγούδια "Peek-a-boo" και το "Kiss Them For Me" εισήχθηκανμπήκαν στοστον κατάλογο επιτυχιών Billboard Hot 100 chart.
== Ύφος και περιεχόμενο ==
Η ομάδαμπάντα είναι έναςμια από τουςτις πρωτοπόρουςπρωτοπόρες του [[post-punk]] και του νέου[[new wave]]. Το Scream θεωρείται ένας από τους ιδρυτικούς δίσκους του είδους της post-punk, με γωνιακέςαπότομες αλλαγές στον τόνο της κιθάρεςκιθάρας, μπάσο που υπαγορεύει τη μελωδία και ρομποτικά τύμπανα.
Επίσης οι Siouxsie and the Banshees έθεσαν τις βάσεις για το λεγόμενο goth rock και αποτέλεσαν τον συνδετικό κρίκο ανάμεσα στο punk και τουτο goth rock.
