Η '''Μπεατρίξ Πότερ''' (''Helen Beatrix Potter'' ; 28 Ιουλίου 1866 - 22 Δεκεμβρίου 1943) ήταν Αγγλίδα συγγραφέας, εικονογράφος, επιστήμονας φυσικών επιστημών και συντηρήτρια ; ήταν περισσότερο γνωστή για την παιδική λογοτεχνία της με κεντρικό θέμα τα ζώα, όπως ''Ο Μύθος του Λαγού''.

Η Πότερ πέθανε από πνευμονία και καρδιακή ανεπάρκεια στις 22 Δεκεμβρίου 1943 στο σπίτι της στο Near Sawrey σε ηλικία 77 ετών, αφήνοντας σχεδόν όλη την περιουσία της στον φιλανθρωπικό οργανισμό Εθνική Εμπιστοσύνη για Τοποθεσίες Ιστορικού Ενδιαφέροντος ή Φυσικής Ομορφιάς. Διατήρησε το μεγαλύτερο μέρος της γης που σήμερα αποτελεί το Εθνικό Πάρκο της Λίμνης Ντίστρικτ. Τα βιβλία της Πότερ συνεχίζουν να πωλούνται σε όλο τον κόσμο σε πολλές γλώσσες ενώ οι ιστορίες της γίνονται τραγούδια, ταινίες, μπαλέτο και κινούμενα σχέδια ενώ η ζωή της έγινε τόσο κινηματογραφική όσο και τηλεοπτική ταινία.
