Thus a person can leave Sacramento at noon, or San Francisco at 4 p. m.by the C P. R. R., remain over night at the junction of the Rail and Stageroads, the second night at White & Hatchs and arrive in the Valley of theYosemite the next evening; or those who prefer can remain that night at Clarksand ride leisurely into the Valley early the next day. The latter course mightbe preferable to the majority of tourists, who would desire to visit en routethe Mariposa Grove of Big Trees, which is but five miles from Clarks.The trail from Clarks leads through Alder Creek, Empire Camp,. SentinelDome, Glacier Point, and the far-famed Inspiration Point. From thelatter is obtained the first grand view of this wonderful Valley, lying fourthousand feet below the Point.
