Ο '''Χέραρντ τερ Μπορχ''' ([[Ολλανδική γλώσσα|ολλανδικά]]: '''Gerard ter Borch''' (Δεκέμβριος 1617 – 8 Δεκεμβρίου 1681), επίσης γνωστός και ως '''Χέραρντ Τέρμπουρχ''' (Gerard Terburg) ήταν [[Ολλανδική Δημοκρατία|Ολλανδός]] [[ζωγραφική|ζωγράφος]] της [[Ζωγραφική της "Χρυσής ολλανδικής εποχής"|"χρυσής ολλανδικής εποχής" στη ζωγραφική]], ο οποίος απεικόνιζε σκηνές της καθημερινότητας και προσωπογραφίες.

Το 1648 βρέθηκε στο [[Μύνστερ]] κατά τη [[:Image:EinzugdesGesandten AdriaenPauw.jpg|Συνάντηση για την επικύρωση της συνθήκης ειρήνης]] που είχε υπογραφεί εκεί μεταξύ Ολλανδών και Ισπανών και αποτύπωσε στον περίφημο μικρό πίνακά του, τον οποίο ζωγράφισε σε χαλκό, όλους τους συγκεντρωμένους πληρεξουσίους.

Εκείνη την εποχή ο τερ Μπορχ προσκλήθηκε να επισκεφθεί τη [[Μαδρίτη]], όπου προσλήφθηκε και τιμήθηκε με τον τίτλο του Ιππότη από τον [[Φίλιππος Δ΄ της Ισπανίας|Βασιλέα Φίλιππο Δ΄]], αλλά συνεπεία μιας μηχανορραφίας, όπως λέγεται, υποχρεώθηκε να επιστρέψει στην Ολλανδία. Φαίνεται ότι για κάποιο διάστημα διέμεινε στο [[Χάαρλεμ]], αλλά τελικά εγκαταστάθηκε στο [[Ντεφέντερ]], όπου έγινε μέλος του δημοτικού συμβουλίου, όπως φαίνεται και στο πορτρέτο που σήμερα βρίσκεται στη [[Χάγη]]. Απεβίωσε στο Ντεφέντερ το 1681.{{sfn|Chisholm|1911}}

Ο τερ Μπορχ ήταν σημαντικός ζωγράφος θεμάτων της καθημερινής ζωής. In 1648 he was at [[Münster]] during the between the Spaniards and the Dutch, and executed his [[:Image:The Ratification of the Treaty of Munster, Gerard Ter Borch (1648).jpg|celebrated little picture, painted upon copper, of the assembled plenipotentiaries]]—a work which, along with the a portrait of a ''Man Standing'', now represents the master in the national collection in London. The picture was bought by the marquess of Hertford at the [[Demidov collection|Demidoff]] sale for 1280, and presented to the [[National Gallery, London|National Gallery]] by [[Richard Wallace (art collector)|Sir Richard Wallace]], at the suggestion of his secretary, Sir John Murray Scott.{{sfn|Chisholm|1911}}

At this time Ter Borch was invited to visit [[Madrid]], where he received employment and the honour of knighthood from [[Philip IV of Spain|Philip IV]], but, in consequence of an intrigue, it is said, he was obliged to return to the Netherlands. He seems to have resided for a time in Haarlem; but he finally settled in [[Deventer]], where he became a member of the town council, as which he appears in the portrait now in the gallery of the Hague. Ter Borch is a significant painter of genre subjects. Ter Borch's works are comparatively rare; about eighty have been catalogued.
