Σπούδασε στο University College, Οικονομικά και Φιλοσοφία στη Σχολή Οικονομικών Επιστημών και [[Σανσκριτική γλώσσα|Σανσκριτικά]] στο School of Oriental and African Studies, στο [[Λονδίνο]]. Έκανε μεταπτυχιακό στο SOAS και στο Deccan College στο Pune. Δίδαξε στο Λονδίνο και την Αθήνα. Από το 1980 διευθύνει το Μορφωτικό Ίδρυμα <nowiki>''Όμιλος Μελετών''</nowiki>. Είναι μέλος της Συντακτικής επιτροπής του ενημερωτικού Δελτίου Adyar Library Bulletin.
