Σπούδασε Θεολογία στο [[Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών]] και μετεκπαιδεύτηκε στην Γαλλία (Στρασβούργο), στην Αγγλία (Οξφόρδη) και στην Γερμανία (Βόννη και Τυβίγγη).
