Ρόμπερτ Μπάκμαν
O Ρόμπερτ Αλεξάντερ Άμιελ Μπάκμαν (22 Αυγούστου 1948 – 9 Οκτωβρίου 2011) ήταν Βρετανός γιατρός, κωμικός, συγγραφέας και πρόεδρος του Συνδέσμου Ανθρωπιστών Καναδά.[3]

ΕπεξεργασίαΟ Buckman φοίτησε στο University College School και αποφοίτησε με τίτλο ιατρικής από το St. John's College, Cambridge το 1972. Συνέχισε την εκπαίδευση του στο Royal Marsden Hospital και το University College Hospital.
Ο Buckman είχε παρουσιαστεί στο ραδιόφωνο του BBC Radio 4 αρκετές φορές κατά τις δεκαετίες του 70 και 80, τόσο σε πάνελ, όσο και προγράμματα με επιστημονικό ενδιαφέρον. Έγραψε σενάρια για κωμικές τηλεοπτικές σειρές όπως το Doctor on the Go.[4]
Ο Buckman μετακόμισε στο Τορόντο του Καναδά το 1985 όπου έμενε με την ανιψιά του και δημοσιογράφο Barbara Amiel.[5] Το 1994, ονομάστηκε Ανθρωπιστής της Χρονιάς από τον Καναδά. Ήταν πρόεδρος του Ανθρωπιστικού Συνδέσμου του Καναδά και επικεφαλής της ομάδας βιοηθικής της Διεθνούς Ανθρωπιστικής και Ηθικής Ένωσης. Το κύριο ανθρωπιστικό του βιβλίο είναι το Can We Be Good Without God? Biology, Behaviour and the Need to Believe.
Ο Buckman πεθανε καθώς κοιμόταν κατά την διάρκεια της πτήσης του από το Λονδίνο στο Τορόντο. Ηταν 63 χρονών.[5].
