Αδελαΐδα της Νορμανδίας

Η Αδελαΐδα της Νορμανδίας (1026 – 1090) ήταν κόρη του Ροβέρτου Α΄ της Νορμανδίας και αδελφή του Γουλιέλμου του κατακτητή, πιθανώς από διαφορετική μητέρα.[5] Όταν ο Γουλιέλμος ο κατακτητής έγινε βασιλιάς της Αγγλίας, ως αδελφή του πήρε τον τίτλο της πριγκίπισσας και της κόμισσας του Ωμάλ. Ο πρώτος γάμος της Αδελαΐδας με τον Ενγκούεραντ Β΄, κόμη του Ποντιέ έδωσε στον Γουλιέλμο τον Κατακτητή έναν ισχυρό σύμμαχο στην Άνω Νορμανδία.[6] Το "Συμβούλιο της Ρεμς" (1049) ακύρωσε τον γάμο του Γουλιέλμου του Κατακτητή με την Ματθίλδη της Φλάνδρας, την ίδια τύχη είχαν ο Ευστάθιος Β΄ της Βουλώνης και ο Ενγκούεραντ Β΄ του Ποντιέ που είχε παντρευτεί ήδη την Αδελαΐδα.[7] Ο πρώτος γάμος της Αδελαΐδας ακυρώθηκε και τακτοποιήθηκε για την ίδια δεύτερος γάμος με τον Λαμβέρτος Β΄ του Λανς, μικρότερο γιο του Ευστάθιο Α΄ της Βουλώνης, δημιουργήθηκε έτσι νέα συμμαχία ανάμεσα στην Νορμανδία και την Βουλώνη.[8]

Ο Λαμπέρ Β΄ του Ποντιέ έπεσε σε μάχη κοντά στην Λιλ (1054), βοηθούσε τον Βαλδουίνο Ε΄ της Φλάνδρας εναντίον του αυτοκράτορα Ερρίκου Γ΄.[9] Μετά την χηρεία της η Αδελαΐδα αποσύρθηκε στα κτήματα της στο Ωμάλ που είχε πάρει σαν προίκα με τον πρώτο της σύζυγο Ενγκούεραντ Β΄ του Ποντιέ, ασχολήθηκε έντονα με την θρησκεία και έδωσε πολλά δώρα στην εκκλησία.[10] Η Αδελαΐδα της Νορμανδίας κλήθηκε να παντρευτεί σε τρίτο γάμο με έναν πολύ μικρότερο άντρα σε ηλικία τον Όντο της Καμπανίας.[11] Ο Όντο φαίνεται αρκετά υποτιμημένος σε σχέση με τους προηγούμενους συζύγους, εμφανίζεται μονάχα σε ένα διάταγμα του Γουλιέλμου του Κατακτητή και δεν δέχτηκε γη στην Αγγλία, η σύζυγος του κυβερνούσε μόνο χάρη στα δικά της δικαιώματα.[12] Ο Γουλιέλμος ο Κατακτητής έδωσε στην αδελφή του τον ναό της Αγίας Τριάδας στην Καέν, την πόλη Λα Χομ στην Κοταντέν και μια υπόσχεση για την κομητεία του Ωμάλ σαν ισόβιο ενοίκιο.[13] Στο Domesday Book καταγράφεται σαν "κόμισσα της Αλβαρανίας", είχε μια μεγάλη σειρά από εκτάσεις στο Σάφοκ με το Έσσεξ.[14][15] Μετά τον θάνατο του τρίτου συζύγου της Όντο πήρε δώρο την ηγεμονία του Χόλντερνες που μεταβιβάστηκε μετά τον θάνατο της (πριν το 1090) στον γιο τους Στέφανο.[16][17]
