Portable Document Format: Διαφορά μεταξύ των αναθεωρήσεων

Το φορμά αναπτύχθηκε ανάμεσα σε άλλα ανταγωνιστικά φορμά όπως το [[DjVu]] (αναπτύσσεται ακόμα), το [[Envoy (WordPerfect)|Envoy]], το [[Common Ground Digital Paper]], το [[Farallon Replica]] ακόμη και το [[PostScript]] φορμά της Adobe (.ps). Εκείνα τα πρώιμα χρόνια, πριν την ανάδυση του [[World Wide Web]] και των εγγράφων [[HTML]], το PDF έγινε δημοφιλές για [[Ροή εργασιών]] [[ηλεκτρονική έκδοση|ηλεκτρονικής έκδοσης]] .

 

 

From version 2.0 onwards Adobe distributed its Acrobat Reader (now Adobe Reader) program free of charge,<ref>{{citation | url = http://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article.cfm?articleid=2038 | first = Charles | last = Geschke | publisher = The Wharton School of the [[University of Pennsylvania]] | title = Driving Adobe: Co-founder Charles Geschke on Challenges, Change and Values }}</ref> and continued supporting the original PDF, which eventually became the [[de facto standard]] for printable documents on the web{{citation needed|date=May 2013}} (a standard [[web document]]).
