Ένα παράδειγμα ηλικιακών διακρίσεων είναι οι απόψεις των ενήλικων ότι όλοι οι έφηβοι αγαπούν τη ροκ μουσική, είναι ανώριμοι, χρησιμοποιούν αργκό και είναι επιπόλαιοι. Από την αντίθετη πλευρά οι έφηβοι πιστεύουν ότι οι πρεσβύτεροι είναι αργοί, αδύναμοι, ευάλωτοι και εξαρτώμενοι.
