[http://www.wikiloveswomen.org Wiki Loves Women] activates, trains, and supports individuals and civil society organisations as they contribute vital information to Wikipedia. It intends to put right two of Wikipedia’s worst contributor and knowledge shortcomings: women and Africa.
Throughout 2016 and 2017, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut, the project has worked to encourage the contribution of existing information from Civil Society Organisations and Gender-equality groups to Wikipedia in four countries across Africa: Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria.
In addition, the project encourages the activation and support of new and existing editors (both female and gender-sensitised male Wikipedians) in the focus countries … and globally, through targeted content creation and expansion challenges. The online global challenges has helped to make the issues visible to the global Wikimedia community.
The talk is proposed by [[User:Islahaddow|Isla Haddow-Flood]] and [[User:Anthere|Anthere (Florence Devouard)]] and will introduce the project and its actions.
