Το κίνημα ανακοινώθηκε για πρώτη φορά το 989, στο Συμβούλιο του Σαρού. Επιδίωξε να προστατεύσει την εκκλησιαστική ιδιοκτησία, τους αγροτικούς πόρους και τους άοπλους κληρικούς<ref>Head
