Το ηφαίστειο φαίνεται, σύμφωνα με δείγματα που συλλέχθηκαν στην περιοχή, ότι εξερράγη περί το 1040–1180 ΚΕ, μια έκρηξη που έχει συσχετιστεί μια μια άγνωστη τροπική έκρηξη το 1108 ΚΕ που οδήγησε σε παγκόσμια πτώση της θερμοκρασίας κατά ένα βαθμό.
